About
JOY Camp is a week-long overnight camp open to incoming 5th Grade students through newly graduated high school seniors. The camp focuses on delivering the message of God's love through fun, fellowship, nature, scripture, and worship. JOY Camp’s mission centers around “Jesus, Others, and Yourself” to help guide young Christians in their walk with Jesus Christ. Every year, the worship lessons at camp dive into one of these three aspects of faith. Campers are assigned cabins by age group and led by volunteer counselors to engaging worship services, fun activities, and delicious meals. Camp is a phone free zone and a great way for youth to unplug from the busyness of the world to experience God's great outdoors and the friendship of others. All are welcome, regardless of where they are in their journey of faith.
JOY Camp is hosted on Camp Reynoldswood’s 170 acres of woods and meadows in Dixon, Illinois. With this much space, there is always plenty to do! A sample of the activities at camp include canoeing, swimming, volleyball, arts and crafts, team building, and a talent show! Everything about JOY Camp seeks to further introduce campers to the glory of our God. A typical day begins with a buffet style breakfast, followed by morning worship where a talented worship team leads campers in song and prayer. The rest of the morning is packed with exciting outdoor activities and a core bible lesson tailored to campers’ specific age groups. Another short worship time follows lunch, leading into an afternoon of even more fun! After dinner, there is a final “all camp” worship service and evening activities which are sure to include a campfire and an evening snack.
There are so many wonderful things about JOY Camp, and none of them would be possible without our gracious volunteer staff. Every one of JOY Camp’s counselors and directors are passionately committed to the development of young Christians and those who are seeking to know the Lord better. They strive to make JOY Camp a safe space for young people to explore their faith, ask tough questions, and learn what it means to live in Christian fellowship with others.
We are proud to partner with the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church who assist us financially and send ordained pastors to serve as part of our volunteer staff.
Mission
JOY Camp is a Christian camp dedicated to helping campers explore their faith in a safe, welcoming environment. We aspire to build a camp culture that reflects God's grace for everyone. Our mission is to help campers strengthen their faith and deepen their understanding of what it means to love others as Jesus loved us. JOY Camp also provides a place to bask in God's beautiful creation and grow in fellowship with other members of the family of God.
